    ASPAC, ABC record wins on Day 1 of Basketball Africa League Qualifying Tournament

    COTONOU (Benin) – ASPAC, the hosts of the Basketball Africa League Qualifying Group B left their fans all smiles as they strolled to a comfortable 83-59 win over GRA Customs Braves of Ghana.

    COTONOU (Benin) – ASPAC, the hosts of the Basketball Africa League Qualifying Group B left their fans all smiles as they strolled to a comfortable 83-59 win over GRA Customs Braves of Ghana on Tuesday at the Hall des Arts, Cotonou.

    The Benin national champions left many worried as they had a slow start and trailed 15-18 at the end of the first quarter but they rallied back to win the second, third and last quarters of the game 22-11, 22-15 and 23-15.

    Sodokin Kofidjin who was on the court for 12:02 minutes led the floor for the home side recording a game-high of 34 points with 2 assists and 2 rebounds. Eloge Sossou followed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

    Ejeh Ameh, one of the foreign players on the roster of ASPAC added 13 points to seal victory for the hosts.

    On the other side, GRA Customs Braves' Daniel Aryee pulled 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Norbert Baniba poured in 14 points but their effort was not enough to help their avoid the loss.

    Ivorian side, Abidjan Basketball Club had a huge task salvaging a 74-68 victory against AS NIGELEC of Niger in the second game of the day.

    Stephane Konate led the floor with double digits with 20 points to his credit and Abraham Sie contributed 19 points.

    AS NIGELEC on the other hand looked up to Abraham Dung Eli who netted 18 points while Timothy Kwaor added 16 points.

    On Wednesday, they will seek redemption against ASPAC in the first game while GRA Customs Braves of Ghana will try to seal their first win when they face NPA Pythons of Liberia in what promises to be an exciting game.
