Quintet steal show on Day 3 at 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship

Day 3 at the FIBA U18 African Championship was the moment Egypt and Mali clashed in Group B, with the latter claiming a well-deserved victory due to their better organization on the court.

ANTANANARIVO (Madagascar) - Day 3 at the FIBA U18 African Championship was marked by Mali's win over Egypt in a clash of titans.

But it was also the day for new faces to display their talent in the showpiece, and here is a look at our top performers for Day 3 of the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship.

    MAHAMADOU DIARRA (Mali)

What Mali lacked against Angola on Gameday 2 was soon forgotten as the West Africans took on Egypt.

And the forward, who was a bit aloof during this particular game, lit up the court with his talent and his skills. He left no chance to the Egyptians as he scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

    OUSMANE NDIAYE (Senegal)

Senegal entered the tournament as title-contenders, had to make a strong impression.

Well, Algeria gave them a good run for their money, at least for the first two periods.

And then, Ousmane Ndiaye rose, to the occasion homed in 9 points in three consecutive attempts from behind the arc, totalled 21 points and made Senegal’s day. And the 6,11 ft (2,10 cm) tall power forward put his size to good use by grabbing 6 rebounds.

    CHAKIB SEDOUD (Algeria)

Algeria gave Senegal quite an itch during their clash. One man in particular was instrumental to Algeria’s side. Chakib Sedoud claimed 20 of the Northern Africans 59 points, along with 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

    IBRAHIMA SANOH (Guinea)

When Guinea lost their inaugural game, Ibrahima Sanoh wasn’t around. Now that he has landed in the Malagasy capital, he proved a most worthy addition to his side’s roster. For his first game, he hit the double digits as he totalled 15 points and picked 16 rebounds, grabbing the tournament’s first double-double en route to an epic victory against Rwanda.

    HUBERT SAGE KWIZERA (Rwanda)
Though his side faced a bitter loss to Guinea, Hubert Sage Kwizera did what was expected of him: a bit of everything, scoring 12 points, clutching 8 rebounds, and adding 1 assist and 1 steal to his numbers. Alas, that was far from enough to help Rwanda win this do-or-die game.
