    Siriman Kanoute named FIBA U18 African Championship 2018 MVP

    BAMAKO (FIBA U18 African Championship) - Siriman Kanoute was huge for Mali, helping his country win their first-ever FIBA U18 African Championship title, and to complete his stellar display the 16-year-old

    BAMAKO (FIBA U18 African Championship 2018) - Siriman Kanoute was huge for Mali, helping his country win their first-ever FIBA U18 African Championship title, and to complete his stellar display the 16-year-old guard was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. 

    He was also topped the All-Star Five.

    Kanoute led Mali in scoring with 13.8 points per game while also averaging a team-high 5.3 assists.

    He converted two of this four three-point attempts in Mali's Championship game victory over Senegal to finish with ten points, five assists, and six rebounds.

    The 6ft2in (1.88m) guard's top showings came in the Semi-Finals where he scored 21 points against then-defending champions Angola. 

    A superstar in the making, Kanoute made a splash at FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018 in Argentina, leading all scorers with 24.6 points per game.

     Joining Kanoute in the All-Star Five were his Mali teammate Abdoul Karim Coulibaly, Biram Faye of Senegal, Angolan guard Selton Miguel,  and Egypt's Youssef Ossama Elmawady.
