    Mali, Algeria, Egypt, Uganda grab Semi-Final spots

    CAIRO (Egypt)- Egypt women had a coaster ride on the last day of the Preliminary round of games with a whooping 164 -10 points win over Gabon.

    CAIRO (Egypt) - The semifinalists at the ongoing FIBA U16 Women's African Championship were determined on Thursday in Cairo.

    Egypt had a coaster ride on the last day of the Group Phase with a whooping 164 -10 points triumph over Gabon.

    But the shining star was Kenzy Ibrahim who sank 30 points and six assists as the Semi-Finals pairing are set to see Mali take on Algeria and Egypt take Uganda.

    The shooting guard made herself the center of attraction on a day half the team scored double figures.

    Jana Elalfy finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and six steals to complement Ibrahim. Jana Sallman added 23 points, 15 rebounds, one assist just as Farida Hassanin was not left out of the fun for the Egyptian side as she drained 11 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out six assists.

    Meanwhile, Jeanette Jackson Mboutsou led Gabon with four points and four rebounds. 

    In the first game of the day, Mali extended their winning streak to five games after trouncing Chad 78-22.

    Mali's Alimata Coulibaly was the shining star as she recorded 14 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.

    Later in the day, the Ugandan vs Algeria was a ding dong affair as scores stood at 43-39 by the end of the first half of the encounter, but Algeria prevailed to win 46-44.

    Friday is a rest day as teams prepare for the Semi-Finals.
