MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA is celebrating its 90th birthday in 2022 and to mark the occasion, we are hearkening back to 90 iconic moments that have shaped basketball's world governing body.

Every week for the next coming months FIBA will publish articles, in no particular order, on momentous, unforgettable events like the FIBA Basketball World Cups, the Olympics, and continental championships, on leagues and leading basketball personalities.

FIBA will share its recollections of the Olympic basketball tournament in 1936

Whether it's a look back at FIBA's first Secretary General, William Jones, the first Olympic Basketball Tournament in Berlin in 1936 or the first Women's World Cup in Chile in 1953, or giant personalities like Yao Ming and the late Kobe Bryant, the aim is to leave readers with a deeper appreciation for the international game and its long and rich history.

Yao and Kobe took centre stage as players and as 2019 World Cup Ambassadors in China
