Two big games in Türkiye coming up this week

MIES (Switzerland) - Four games on Tuesday await, with two big matchups happening in Group J, both in Türkiye. Meanwhile the Czech champs take on the Hungarian title holders, while BAXI Manresa are facing Pallacanestro Reggiana in search of a major win.

Here's all you need to know about each matchup.

    Galatasaray (2-2) vs. Rytas Vilnius (2-2) - Group J, 18:00 CET

Vintage Will Cummings this season for Galatasaray
    • Galatasaray have won seven of their last eight home games in the BCL, including each of the last four. However, their last two home wins ended with a margin of exactly two points; they have won their last three home games played in the Round of 16 after never winning in succession in their first seven such games.

    • Rytas Vilnius have lost two of their last three games in the BCL, both coming away from home, after winning their previous six games; they have lost six of their eight road games played in the Round of 16 but the last such win came in Türkiye (92-69 v Bahcesehir in March 2023).

    • Rytas have allowed 38.7 percent of the three-point shots they have faced in the BCL this season, more than any other team; however, it’s Galatasaray that are allowing the most three-pointers per game this term (11.0).

    • Will Cummings (Galatasaray) has scored 20+ points in three of his last four BCL games, as often as in his first 25 appearances. He has made multiple steals in each of his last four home games in the competition.

    • RJ Cole (Rytas) has scored 15+ points in each of his last three BCL games, as often as in his first 13 appearances. He has made 3+ three-pointers in four of his last five games in the competition.

    • Galatasaray couldn't bounce back following the BCL loss to Unicaja, as they suffered the 92-77 defeat in the Istanbul derby to Besiktas despite Tyrone Wallace's 20 points; the same applied to Rytas, which lost 82-75 to Lietkabelis even though Gytis Radzevicius had a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds.

    Manisa Basket Divissa (1-3) vs. Unicaja (3-1) - Group J, 18:00 CET

Can Chris Chiozza perform another double-double?
    • Manisa Basket Divissa have won four of their six games at home in the BCL and enjoyed their biggest win in the competition at home last week (98-75 vs. Rytas Vilnius). At least one team has scored 90+ points in each of Manisa’s four games in the Round of 16.

    • Unicaja have won 19 of their last 20 games in the BCL though their only defeat in that span came in their most recent road game (84-86 at Galatasaray); they have allowed more than 85 points in each of their last two BCL games after never allowing that many points in any of their previous 29.

    • Unicaja are averaging 49.4 points in the second half of their games in the BCL this season, more than any other team, while Manisa have allowed 43.8 points on average in the second half of their game: that's the most among the 16 teams still competing.

    • Hugo Besson (Manisa) is averaging 17.5 points per game in the BCL this season, the best average among all players born since 2000. He has scored 20+ points in five games this season, no other player born since 2000 has done that in more than two games.

    • Kendrick Perry (Unicaja) has averaged 7.0 assists per game in his last six BCL appearances after averaging 2.4 assists in his previous 10 games. He had his best total of assists in a BCL game during a trip to Türkiye, 13 against Aliaga Petkimspor in November 2024.

    • It isn't impossible to beat Unicaja anymore: after Galatasaray in the BCL, Zaragoza did it too in the ACB on Saturday; Manisa fought until the end but dropped a 77-73 loss against Fenerbahce despite another double-double by Chris Chiozza (15 points and 10 assists) and Jo Lual-Acuil's 22 points.

    ERA Nymburk (3-1) vs. Falco-Vulcano Szombathely (0-4) - Group L, 18:30 CET

ERA Nymburk had seven (!) players scoring in double-digits against Nanterre 92
    • ERA Nymburk have only lost two of their last 11 games in the BCL but those two defeats came at home; in fact, five of their last seven defeats in the competition came while playing on their own court.

    • Falco-Vulcano Szombathely have lost their last four games in the BCL but have lost more in succession only once before when they lost their first five games in the Round of 16 2021-22. Their last seven defeats in the R16 all ended with a margin of greater than 10 points.

    • Nymburk (43.9) and Falco (43.2) are two of the three teams that are attempting the most two-pointers per game in the BCL this season (also Rytas 43.9). Nymburk are also allowing fewer two-pointers per game than any other team this season (16.8).

    • Nighael Ceaser (Nymburk) has scored 10+ points in each of his last three BCL games after doing it in only one of his first seven appearances; he has also grabbed 7+ rebounds in each of those last three games after reaching that total in only one game before.

    • Zoltan Perl has scored more points than any other player in the BCL this season (259) despite starting all his games on the bench and has scored 24.8 percent of Falco's total points this season, the highest percentage among the players still in the competition. He needs only eight more points to become the bench player with the most points scored in a single BCL season (Dusan Sakota, 266 in 2017-18).

    • While Falco's game domestically got postponed, Nymburk got another win in the Czech league, as Francesco Tabellini enjoyed the 87-74 road win over his former team Praha.

    BAXI Manresa (1-3) vs. Pallacanestro Reggiana (2-2) - Group K, 20:45 CET

BAXI Manresa are coming off a three-game losing streak
    • BAXI Manresa have lost their last three games in the BCL, including the reverse fixture against Pallacanestro Reggiana (70-85) but they have lost more in succession only once before, four straight defeats in January-February 2020; they have won their last two home games played against Italian teams in the BCL, scoring 100+ points on both occasions.

    • Reggiana have alternated between wins and defeats in their last six road games in the BCL, winning the most recent one (91-87 vs. Aliaga Petkimspor); however, they are yet to win consecutive road games in the competition.

    • Reggiana have allowed more than 10 three-pointers in three of their four games in this R16, more often than in their first 14 games in the competition (2 games). However, the only game where they allowed fewer than three-pointers in this R16 was against Manresa (8).

    • Cameron Hunt (Manresa) has scored 10+ points in each of his last four BCL games, his best run in the competition, including 23 points last week against Aliaga Petkimspor, his best total in his 21 appearances. He also made five three-pointers last week after never making more than three in a BCL game previously.

    • Cassius Winston (Reggiana) is averaging 9.8 points and 4.3 assists in his four games in this R16 after averaging 19.1 points and 6.6 assists in his first eight games this season in the BCL; he has scored fewer than 10 points in three of his last four games against Spanish teams.

    • Manresa's difficult stretch continued with a 94-89 road loss to Gran Canaria, while on the other end, Reggiana stayed in the LBA Playoffs race after beating Varese 78-63 on the road with 17 points from both Cassius Winston and Jaylen Barford.
