MIES (Switzerland) - Two matchups between Round of 16 opening week winners, two teams eager to get revenge, and one battle which could spice things up in Group I.
That's what another Tuesday in the Basketball Champions League will be all about. Before catching up with the action, here are six notes, figures, facts, and domestic results for each of the four games scheduled.
Aliaga Petkimspor (0-1) vs. Pallacanestro Reggiana (0-1) - Group K, 18:00 CET
Aliaga Petkimspor have won four of the five BCL games they have played as the home team, scoring 88.3 points per game in their last three home fixtures, after averaging only 66.5 per game in their previous two.
Pallacanestro Reggiana have lost their most recent road game in the BCL (69-91 at La Laguna Tenerife) but are alternating between wins and losses in their five road fixtures this season (W2 L3); they have allowed more than 90 points in each of their last three road games after never doing it in any of the previous five.
Petkimspor have allowed their opponents to score 59.4 percent of their two-pointers in the BCL this season, more than any other team; Reggiana have scored at least 50 percent of their two-pointers in three of their last four BCL games after doing it in only one of their previous eight.
Breein Tyree (Petkimspor) has averaged 17.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in his last six BCL games, also putting up 1.5 steals per game in that run. Tyree has scored more than 10 points in each of his 10 non-Regular Season games in the BCL.
Jaylen Barford (Reggiana) has averaged 24.5 points in his last two road games in the BCL after averaging 8.3 points in his first three road games in the competition. Barford is shooting 61.1 percent from three-point range in his last four BCL appearances (11/18).
Opposite domestic league moods for the two teams entering the second gameday of the Round of 16: Reggiana didn't have any problems against Cremona with 20 points and 9 rebounds from Mouhamed Faye, while Petkimspor lost at home to newly promoted Mersin despite Wesley Van Beck's 22 points.
AEK Betsson BC (1-0) vs. Bertram Derthona Basket (0-1) - Group I, 18:30 CET
AEK Betsson BC have won their four home games this season in the BCL, by an average margin of 17.8 points; they have won four of their five home games played against teams from Italy with three of those wins ending with margins of at least 20 points.
Bertram Derthona Basket have lost only two of their nine BCL games in 2024-25, but both defeats have happened on the road, including in their most recent fixture (79-80 at Wurzburg); Derthona have won all four road games when allowing fewer than 80 points and have lost four of the five when allowing 80 or more points in the competition.
Derthona are the only team allowing fewer than 30 percent of the three-pointers they have faced in the BCL this season (29.6%), however, AEK have allowed the fourth lowest percentage of the three-pointers they faced (30.8%).
Hunter Hale (AEK) has averaged 19.4 points and 4.2 assists in his last five home games in the BCL; he made at least three three-pointers in each of his last five home games in the competition.
Christian Vital (Derthona) has scored more than 15 points in each of his four road games in the BCL (18.3 on average) and he’s averaging 5.0 rebounds per game when playing away from home. He has scored 15+ points in only one of his four home games in the competition.
Derthona has been recently suffering the worst stretch of their season thus far, getting the third consecutive defeat between LBA and BCL: this time, they lost on the road to Trieste and their former player Colbey Ross. AEK, instead, won 86-85 in Rhodes to stay 3rd in the Greek League standings.
ERA Nymburk (1-0) vs. UCAM Murcia (1-0) - Group L, 18:30 CET
ERA Nymburk have won seven of their last eight games in the BCL but the sole defeat in that run came in their last home game, 75-85 against Promitheas; they have allowed 85+ points in each of their last two games for the first time since January-March 2021 (3 games in a row).
UCAM Murcia have won their last four road games in the BCL but have never enjoyed such a longer run in the competition; they have allowed fewer than 80 points in each of their last 10 games played as the road team.
Nymburk have allowed only 15.9 two-pointers per game in the BCL this season, fewer than any other team, and have consequently the lowest share of points allowed from two-point range (41.3%); Murcia have made fewer than 20 two-pointers in each of their last seven games played as the road team.
Jaromir Bohacik (Nymburk) scored 25 points last week against Falco-Vulcano Szombathely, his best total in his 74 BCL appearances; he is averaging 2.4 three-pointers per game in the BCL this season after never averaging more than 1.6 three-pointers per game in any of his previous five BCL seasons.
Howard Sant-Roos has made a total of 117 steals in the BCL and is just one steal behind David Holston in the all-time leaders' list (118); he had two steals in his last week's game (vs. Nanterre) his sole game with multiple steals this season.
Nymburk hasn't known the word "loss" since December 17, when they last surrendered to Promitheas as previously mentioned. During the weekend, they got a 102-78 win against Praha - coached two years ago by Francesco Tabellini. Murcia won't play in the Copa del Rey but are trying to bounce back into the ACB Playoffs picture; they won 88-79 in Zaragoza.
Unicaja (1-0) vs. Rytas Vilnius (1-0) - Group J, 20:30 CET
Unicaja extended last week their record winning run in the BCL which is now at 17 games, and they have won their last 11 home games, by an average margin of 19.3 points; Unicaja have scored more than 90 points in each of their last five BCL games and could equal the best such run in the competition, set by ERA Nymburk in 2020-21 (6 games in a row).
Rytas Vilnius have won their last six BCL games, their best run in the competition, with each of those wins coming with a double-digit margin; they have lost their last three trips to Spain, by margins of at least 13 points.
Unicaja are making 22.1 assists per 100 possessions in the BCL this season, more than any other team, while Rytas are committing only 10.1 turnovers per 100 possessions, the lowest average among all teams. Both teams are making 25.0 two-pointers per game this season, the best average among all teams.
Kendrick Perry (Unicaja) has scored 10+ points in each of his last four home games in the BCL but has never done it in more games in a row in the competition; he has made a total of five steals in his last two home games after making four in his previous 11 games.
Gytis Radzevicius (Rytas) has scored at least 12 points in four of his last six road games in the BCL after doing it in only two of his first 15 road appearances; he has grabbed 9+ rebounds in three of his last five road games.
Both teams are on a roll, domestically and in the BCL. Playing once again in front of their pumped-up crowd in Malaga, Unicaja is coming off a solid 94-73 win against Baskonia. Following the recent 89-79 win in Siauliai, Rytas celebrated their 9th success in their last 10 games in all competitions.
