Permutations: Which teams can book tickets to Round of 16 this week?

 

MIES (Switzerland) - Week 8 action marks the first turning point, as in effect we are entering the final stretch of the Regular Season. There are four teams that can secure first place in their respective groups this week if results go their way,  therefore booking automatically a berth in the Round of 16. Let's have a closer look at each group:

Group A

All four teams in Group A can mathematically still finish anywhere between first and fourth in the standings.

This week's schedule:

- Peristeri bwin v Le Mans Sarthe Basket

- Unicaja v Falco Vulcano Szombathely 

Unicaja will secure first place in the group if they defeat Falco and Le Mans defeat Peristeri in the other game.

Le Mans will secure a top-two finish in the group if they win over Peristeri and Unicaja win over Falco; Le Mans will secure a top-three finish if they win over Peristeri and Falco win over Unicaja.

Peristeri will secure a spot in the Play-Ins, at the very least, if they defeat Le Mans by up to 28 points and Unicaja defeat Falco.

If Falco lose to Unicaja, they will only stay in the race for second or third place if Peristeri defeat Le Mans. [/unordered]

 

Group C

All four teams in Group C can mathematically still finish anywhere between first and fourth in the standings.

Tenerife will seal first place in the group if they defeat Riga and Darussafaka defeat Cholet in the other game.

Cholet will secure a top-two finish in the group if they win over Darussafaka and Tenerife win over Riga.

Darussafaka will lock up second place in the group if they defeat Cholet by 12 points or more and Tenerife defeat Riga in the other game.

Riga will stay in the race for the Play-Ins regardless of Tuesday's result. [/unordered]

 AEK will lock up first place if they defeat Sassari, or if they lose but Szczecin defeat Ludwigsburg in the other game.

Ludwigsburg will lock up second spot in the group if they defeat Szczecin and AEK defeat Sassari. Ludwigsburg will stay in the chase for first place if they defeat Szczecin and Sassari defeat AEK.

Szczecin can only finish between second and fourth place. Regardless of Wednesday's result they will stay in the race for the Play-Ins.

Sassari can only finish between second and fourth in this group.

Group F

All four teams in Group F can mathematically still finish anywhere between first and fourth in the standings.

Holon will seal first place in the group if they defeat Bonn and Bursaspor defeat Breogan in the other Wednesday game.

Bonn will stay in the race for first place in the group if they defeat Holon by 2 or more points.

Breogan will secure a top-three finish and consequently a spot in the Play-ins, at the very least, if they defeat Bursaspor.

If Bursaspor lose to Breogan, they will finish in fourth place. [/unordered]
