DAR-ES-SALAAM – (Tanzania) The largest city in Tanzania will host the 5th edition of the African Mini Basketball Convention from November 23-25, 2023.
The event organized by FIBA's Regional Office - Africa with the support of the FIBA Foundation will welcome 400 children from 5 to 12 years, 19 delegates from 16 different countries, and 50 local coaches.
Shaped with the fundamental purposes of training the coaches, promoting Mini Basketball within Africa, and creating a positive, enduring experience for young participants to keep them within the basketball community, this program assures an exciting and engaging journey.
Consistent with the principles of Basketball for Good, this program also corresponds with the three key strategies of FIBA: Expanding the FIBA community, empowering national federations, and promoting women's involvement in basketball.
The FIBA Foundation is the social and legacy arm of FIBA that addresses the role of sports particularly basketball in society, preserving and promoting basketball’s values and cultural heritage. This forum aims to enlighten the coaches about the implementation of Mini Basketball.
Previous editions were held in Abidjan in 2021 and in Nouakchott last year. In the latest edition, kids were given the tools and taught the specific methodology to spark their interest in the discipline, while inculcating important values linked to basketball to both coaches and players.
