LILLE (France) - The Group Phase of the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 will see four team eliminated as eight teams advance to the Quarter-Finals.

The competition has been intense as expected, considering the level of talent on display in Paris.

    Spain

Spain are undefeated so far in the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament and thanks to Serbia also maintaining their perfect record during the second gameday, it means they advance to the Quarter-Finals. However, they have only won these games by the slimmest margin possible - taking one-point victories in both games.

But even if that strikes some concern among their fans, whether it's by two points or twenty points, the 2016 silver medalists have two wins and zeroes losses.

    Serbia

Serbia won again and locked up their Quarter-Finals tickets, but no one should be surprised. They are, after all, on a streak of two successive Semi-Finals appearances in the competition.

Their best result was a bronze medal in 2016 on their debut and they will now be determined to get back onto the podium again this year.

    Germany

This has already been a debut to remember for Germany as they are the first to clinch a Quarter-Finals spot with a classy win-double against Belgium and Japan.

Satou Sabally has been a force for Germany, highlighted by a 33-point scoring performance that ended up in the All-Time Top 10 of the Olympic record books against Japan.

    France

The hosts have had the hot hand since the first tip. Their home stand has started with two stylish wins in convincing fashion, earning them the top spot in their Group and a ticket to the Quarter-Finals.

France are chasing their third Olympic medal having took bronze at Tokyo 2020 and will be dreaming of another Final appearance after reaching the title game at London 2012.

    USA

USA continued their lengthy Olympic winning streak as they eased out Belgium to go 2-0 in Group C and confirm their place in the Quarter-Finals.

Continuing on their journey towards a potential 10th title, it was Breanna Stewart who led the way against Belgium as the reigning champions underlined their quality with another strong effort.

    Belgium

Belgium made some noise in their debut back in Tokyo 2020, making it to the Quarter-Finals. They're now back as the last eight teams in contention after a massive victory over Japan.

Emma Meesseman has put Belgium on her shoulders, as usual, and continues to make history.

    Nigeria

From beating Australia in their first game to taking down Canada in their last game in Lille, Nigeria not only confirmed their appearance in the Quarter-Finals - they are also the first ever African team to have advanced to the Quarter-Finals of the Olympics, men's or women's.

This is already a triumphant third appearance in the Olympics for D'Tigress, after having placed 11th in both Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2020.

    Australia

Australia managed to upset France at home in front of a record-breaking crowd in an unbelievable do-or-die game. Pure Australian basketball wonder.

This team is still alive and will be kicking in Paris in the Final Phase.
