Writing on social media, Parker said it was time and she leaves the court having had a huge impact on the FIBA global game at both national team and club level.
While the forward's first major tournament ended up in disappointment when USA failed to capture the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in 2006, she made up for that with her two gold medals at the Olympics.
Firstly in Beijing during 2008 and then making it back to back finishes on the top step of the podium by standing supreme at London 2012.
There was also huge attention and a significant spotlight during her EuroLeague Women career which witnessed her spent all but one of her six seasons at UMMC Ekaterinburg.
She was crowned a champion in 2013 with the Russian side and also stepped out with Fenerbahce in her final campaign in the competition.
Parker can also reflect with pride on being a three-time WNBA champion and still the only baller in history to do it with three different teams. She will inevitably be remembered for her play in a Los Angeles Sparks jersey, having played for the club during her first 13 WNBA seasons and having become only the second player to dunk in the league back in 2008.
