    Machida beats Taurasi to 100 Olympic assists

    Rui Machida has now 102 assists at the Olympics

    The Japanese point guard hit a major milestone on the all-time assists list.

    (LILLE) - Japanese point guard Rui Machida made a noise with her record-breaking exploits in assists at Tokyo 2020 and now she's making people sit up and take notice again at the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024. The Akatsuki baller was locked with Diana Taurasi in joint fourth place on the all-time list with 97 assists as both faced each other in their first game of Group C. While USA came out on top in the encounter and took victory, Machida won the race to become only the fourth player in Olympic history to hit the 100 landmark.

    She finished with 5 assists which takes her to 102 in total. Meanwhile Taurasi passed the rock once and is now on 98 total assists.
