Ezinne Kalu played for Nigeria at Tokyo 2020

The influential playmaker re-joins D'Tigress after missing the last three years of action.

ABUJA (Nigeria) - Nigeria will represent African basketball with pride at the Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament Paris 2024 and will be looking forward to it even more after the returning Ezinne Kalu headlined a 16-player squad.

Having not played since 2021 when she appeared at the FIBA Women's AfroBasket and the Tokyo Olympics, the point guard is back in the mix and that is incredible news for the underdogs.

She will offer additional quality and experience on the global stage, having also been a leader for D'Tigress at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 in Tenerife.

It also means they have a star in the backcourt, with forward Amy Okonkwo already outstanding in the frontcourt.

Elsewhere on the list, guard duo Promise Amukamara who handed out 3.3 assists per game at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 in Belgium is included - as is the all-action Elizabeth Balogun.

In the paint, forward Murjanatu Musa showed great signs in Antwerp of perhaps stepping up and she will line up alongside Okonkwo.

Nigeria will play in Group B against Australia, Canada and France.
