    The first game day of action is in the books. Here is a list of the top performers.

    LILLE (France) - The first game day of the 2024 Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament provided some amazing action and even more spectacular individual performances.

    Let's look at the Top Performers of game day 1.

    Leonor Rodriguez had a national team career night in the opening game of the tournament as she hit the huge triple that forced overtime and paved the way for a pulsating 90-89 win against China.

    As well as taking the momentum shifting shot, she also finished with 25 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.

    Breanna Stewart was in top gear for USA

    Breanna Stewart brought the noise for USA as they strolled past Japan. She had a big shooting night, with her 22 points coming from 11 of 15 from the floor. She also harvested 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks in the contest.

    A'ja Wilson was unstoppable for USA

    A'ja Wilson was a powerhouse for USA and terrorized the Japan defense with her physicality and skills. The forward racked up a huge performance efficiency valuation of 33 after a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds - plus 4 assists and 4 blocks.

    Megan Gustafson was sensational on her Olympic debut as she carried them to their thrilling overtime win against China with some stellar work inside. She stepped off the floor having recorded 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

    Yueru Li shine for China in the loss to Spain

    It was bitter-sweet for China center Yueru Li as she was on the losing side, but produced the highest performance efficiency valuation of the first games with a sparkling 37.

    That came off the back of her monster 31 points and 15 rebounds double-double.
