    Meet the team: FAP

    Known for their competitive spirit, can FAP become Cameroon's team to reach the podium in a continental competition?

    YAOUNDE (CAMEROUN) – FAP Women Basketball return to the FIBA Women Basketball League Africa (WBLA), slated in Dakar, Senegal (December 6-15) with high hopes.

    Their last appearance goes back to 2018, when they achieved a fifth-place finish – their best ranking so far - in the former FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup, in Mozambique.

    Fast forward to 2024 they ended with a 2-2 streak in the qualifiers with wins over N.A.B.A and Daniel Battiston Foundation while they bowed to DR Congo’s ASB Makomeno in a tightly contested game and CNSS.

    HOW THEY QUALIFIED FOR THE 2024 WBLA QUALIFIERS

    FAP Women Basketball claimed their first-ever national title in the National Senior Elite One Championship, beating Douala University, Yaoundé Overdose and Douala Battiston in the first and second legs of the play-offs.

    The Yaoundé-based team had a rather chaotic run in the knockout stages, with wins over N.A.B.A. (95-32) and Daniel Battiston Foundation (77-61), but losses to ASB Makomeno and CNSS.

    KEY PLAYERS IN THE TEAM

    Josiane Tcheumeleu and Keyla Kipo were the driving force behind the team, averaging 8 and 9 points per game respectively.

    Amandine Ebogo (8.7 points and 9.3 rebounds), Cynthia Williams (12.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game) and Semah Ekah (9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds) kept the machine running at full speed.

    NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS

    Adebola Adeyeye has been selected for Nigeria in the 2023 FIBA Women's Afrobasket. Josiane Tcheumeleu has played for Cameroon in the 2021 FIBA Women's Afrobasket.

    YEAR OF CREATION AND OWNERSHIP

    The team, owned by Cameroon's Ministry of Defence. It is chaired by Colonel Léopold Nlate Ebale.

    HEAD COACH

    Ange Majolie Lonteu Tsafack was a player when FAP women's Basketball finished fifth in the former FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup in Mozambique.

    She has won several honours as a player, including MVP awards and zonal titles with INJS Women's Basketball. As a coach, one of her most notable achievements is the bronze medal she won with Cameroon at the 2024 FIBA U18s Women's AfroBasket in South Africa.

    WHERE THEY PLAY THEIR HOME GAMES

    FAP play their home games at the Palais des Sports in Yaounde, an indoor arena with a 5200-seat capacity located in the heart of the Cameroonian capital.
