BELGRADE (Serbia) - Star players Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic are the headline names in Serbia's Olympic team.
Three-time NBA MVP Jokic is back with the national side for the first time since EuroBasket 2022, while Bogdanovic is one of nine players that suited up last year when the country reached the Final of the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila.
Coach Svetislav Pesic has a team that many expect to go on a deep run at the Olympics.
One of the big success stories for Serbia is Aleksa Avramovic, the defensive juggernaut who put the clamps on Canada superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in last year's Semi-Final triumph.
Another key man back for Serbia is point guard Vasilije Micic, who played two summers ago but missed the World Cup.
Part of the new generation of Serbia, Nilkola Jovic, is in the team. Jovic, 21, averaged 10.1 points per game last year, which was third on the team behind Bogdanovic's 19.1 ppg and Nikola Milutinov's 12.1 ppg.
Bogdanovic promises to be one of the premier marksmen playing at the Olympics. He was 22 of 52 (42.3%) from long range at the World Cup.
Serbia are in Group C with USA, South Sudan and Puerto Rico. Their first game is on Sunday against the USA.
