Which countries dominated the Youth EuroBasket podiums?

The FIBA U20 EuroBasket title was one of France's four golds this summer

There was no one who could match France in Youth EuroBasket competitions in 2024.

MUNICH (Germany) - Finland's historic title at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2024 marked the end of a busy and exciting summer of FIBA Youth EuroBasket Division A events.

Six top division tournaments across the Europe provided a stage for many young talents to shine, but France made the most of it with five medals, three of which came from the women's competitions.

They missed out on only one decoration throughout the summer, winning four golds with one runner-up spot.

Les Bleus won the FIBA U20 EuroBasket, where they repeated last year's success, also added the FIBA U16 EuroBasket gold for the first time since 2017, while also improving on the two bronze medals in the previous outings.

Meanwhile, Les Bleuettes celebrated title triumphs at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket, where they continued an impressive streak after picking up their 13th medal in the last 14 editions of the event. France also defended their crown at the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket, winning back-to-back tournaments in Lithuania.

Their only other medal came at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket, where France came up short against history-makers Finland in a major upset in the title-decider.

One of only three countries to lift a Youth EuroBasket trophy in 2024, Finland jumped up the leaderboard after their historic success in Miskolc. It was not only the country's first European title, but also the first decoration altogether at the youth level.

Germany completes this year's list of Youth EuroBasket champions after winning the FIBA U18 EuroBasket crown in Tampere. It was the maiden triumph for the country's men's program in any age category, with the women winning the U18 title in 2018.

Although Spain ranked among the top teams with four podium finishes, none of their medals were gold. With three runner-up finishes and one bronze medal, Spain have France in their mind after losing three title-deciders to their neighbors and perennial Youth EuroBasket rivals.

Serbia came in fifth in the medal table with three to their name after being one of just three countries to secure podium finishes in both men's and women's events, while Slovenia had a successful 2024 campaign with a pair of medals.

Greece and Italy round out the list of Youth EuroBasket medalists for 2024, winning one bronze each.
