MUNICH (Germany) - There was history made in Antwerp on Thursday night as 10,614 fans turned up to the Sportpaleis Antwerpen watch Belgium face Lithuania in what proved to be a record-breaking attendance for a FIBA Women's EuroBasket qualifying game. Belgian fans once again showed their passion for women's hoops and love for the national team as they set a new high tide mark as the first crowd to break through the 10,000 landmark.

To make the experience even sweeter, their favorites responded to the unprecedented backing in the competition to deliver a 81-70 success.

The figure beat the previous best set in 2017 when 9,945 fans were on hand in Ankara to watch Türkiye face Israel. The biggest crowd in the most recent qualifying campaign was in 2023 when 9,425 supporters stepped out in Stockholm to cheer Sweden on against Latvia. Fans of the Cats are no strangers to record-breaking accomplishments.

Earlier this year in Antwerp, they set a new attendance record for women's team sports in Belgium when an amazing 13,700 fans flooded the Sportpaleis to watch their team face USA in the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament. FIBA
