BEIRUT (Lebanon) / SHENZHEN (China) – The FIBA Regional Office-Asia has confirmed the list of teams set to participate in the Division B of FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 scheduled to be held in Shenzhen from July 13-20.
Leading the fray are former Division A competitors Chinese Taipei, India and Kazakhstan who will all make a fervent attempt to earn promotion to the elite division after clinching the top spot in their sub-zone qualifiers.
Chinese Taipei, once medallists in Division A, emerged triumphant in the East Asia qualifiers as did India by coming on top in their South Asia qualifiers. Kazakhstan emerged as the top team in the Central Asia qualifiers.
Iran are the fourth team that came through the sub-zone after they won the West Asia qualifiers.
Mongolia and Thailand complete the Asian side of the competition after taking up the remaining slots on first-come, first-served basis.
These six Asian teams will be joined by Oceania representatives The Cook Islands and Tahiti completing the roster of eight teams competing in Division B.
The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each for the Preliminary Phase with the top teams from each group qualifying directly to the Semi-Finals. The second and third placed teams from each group will be involved in a criss-cross Qualification to the Semi-Finals.
The winners of the two Semi-Finals will play the Finals of Division B, with the winners of that game earning the promotion to the elite Division A competition in the 2027 edition of FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, replacing the eighth placed team from FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Division A.
The Division B competition at FIBA Women’s Asia Cup will run concurrently with the Division A competition.
The Groups and Schedule of games for FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Division B will be announced soon.
