MIAMI (United States) – The official draw for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 will be held on Wednesday, March 26, in Miami at 11:00 AM (Eastern Time, USA), as announced by the FIBA Regional Office in the Americas.
The Centro de Deportes Colectivos in Chile, will host the tournament, which will take place from June 28 to July 6, featuring 10 national teams: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States and host nation Chile.
Draw procedures
The 10 participating teams will be divided into five (5) pots, each containing two (2) spheres, based on the current FIBA Women’s World Ranking, presented by Nike: Pot 1: El Salvador and Chile Pot 2: USA and Canada Pot 3: Brazil and Puerto Rico Pot 4: Colombia and Argentina Pot 5: Dominican Republic and Mexico Additionally, two extra pots, each containing the numbers 1 to 5, will be used to determine the position of each team within their group and the order of the games. Chile, as the host country, will automatically be placed in Group B, in position B4. As a result, El Salvador will be assigned to Group A. The remaining teams will be drawn and allocated to either Group A or Group B.
The draw will be broadcasted live on FIBA’s official YouTube channel.
Competition format
During the Group Phase, each team will play one game against every opponent in their group. The top four teams from each group will advance to the Quarterfinals. The eight Quarterfinalists will be paired based on their final ranking in the Group Phase. The quarterfinals winners will then advance to the semifinals round where they would compete for a spot into the gold medal game, while the losing teams will play for the Bronze Medal. The FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, the most prestigious women’s national team tournament in the continent, will be held for the 18th time. Brazil is the defending champion, having won the title in Mexico 2023.
