Who stole the spotlight on the second day in Cairo?

    Review

Cairo's Hassan Moustafa Hall was a hotbed of talent on Game-day 2.

CAIRO (Egypt) - On day two of the Women's AfroBasket Qualifiers for Zone 5 nations in Cairo, history was made and a clutch win for the hosts gave the fans at Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall a show to behold. In this article, we take a look at who the stars were on Tuesday, in no particular order, as South Sudan beat Kenya 86-69 and Egypt survived a hard-fought Ugandan side for 65-62.

    Delicia Washington (South Sudan)

Washington (main photo), who is based in Spain, scored 26 points in just over 37 minutes on her second African basketball debut.

Despite turning the ball over nine times, the East Africans' highest turnover rate, she led the Bright Starlets to victory with seven assists, six rebounds and five steals for an efficiency rating of 25.

    Adut Bulgak (South Sudan)

The former WNBA player came within a whisker of a double-double after scoring 14 points to join teammate Nyamuoch Teny as the second-highest scorers for Alberto Antuna's South Sudan side.

The Bright Starlets skipper added four assists and three steals in 36:54 minutes on the floor to help her side humiliate rivals Kenya for the first time in four meetings between the two sides in this competition.

Her numbers translated into an efficiency rating of 19, two points higher than Rose Macuei who was the other player to reach double figures with 11 points.

    Hala Elshaarawy (Egypt)

While day one stars Raneem Elgedawy and Nadine Mohamed continued their stellar performances to top the defending champions' scoring charts with 20 and 19 points respectively, it was Elshaarawy's heroics that saw the North Africans through to victory against Uganda.

With the score tied at 59, she scored two crucial lay-ups before captain Farida Abdelnabi added another in a tense 1:25 of the final quarter to see Amr Elmaraghy's side through.

Abdelnabi scored just one basket in the opening two minutes of the fourth period despite playing 24:08 of the game, finishing with six points.

She added five rebounds, four of them defensive, before fouling out in the final milliseconds of a game that twice went to video review in the final three seconds.

    Jane Asinde (Uganda)

For the second day running, the Uganda Gazelles captain was on fire, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds.

She teamed up with Germany-based 24-year-old Paige Robinson, who scored 24 points, to push for back-to-back wins, but it was never to be.

Asinde added five assists and two steals for the day's highest efficiency rating of 26, tied with Kenya's Victoria Reynolds (19 points, 9 steals, 8 rebounds, 7 assists).
