SOFIA (Bulgaria) - There was delight in the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket 2024, Division B for Belgium and Netherlands after the two nations were successfully promoted to Division A after reaching the Final.
The Dutch ended Czechia's unbeaten streak with an 85-71 victory in the Semi-Finals in the Bulgarian capital on the back of an efficient double-double from Jasmijn Olsem who recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for an efficiency valuation of 22.
The Czechs will hope Dominika Paurova can continue her scoring form in the Third-Place Game, after she dropped a big double-double herself of 19 points with 13 rebounds to go with 2 assists and steals.
The other unbeaten nation, Belgium, were able to maintain their streak in an 87-51 Semi-Final win over Iceland.
It was a stand-out performance from Nastja Claessens who recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists on an efficiency valuation of 21.
Renee Denys also chipped in 15 points, with 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the nation moving up to Division A.
As pre-confirmed 2025 Division A hosts Portugal avoided finishing in the bottom three at this year's edition there is now third promotion ticket which Czechia and Iceland can still compete for, with the winner of the Third-Place game set to move on up.
