Who were the winners in 2023?
France ended a near decade-long wait as they landed a fourth U20 Women's European title thanks to a convincing 85-59 victory over first-time finalists Latvia. Carla Leite top scored with 24 points and secured MVP honors as France capped off an unbeaten tournament with an impressive win.
Vanesa Jasa spearheaded Latvia with 17 points in the title game as they medalled for the first time.
Czechia and Belgium were relegated to Division B despite solid efforts, with Slovenia and Germany taking their spots this year.
Former MVPs
Leite was colossal in France's reign to the summit, etching her name to international folklore with a sublime average of 18.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game for an efficiency rating of 17.3.
The previous five winners of the tournament's MVP are as follows:
2023: Carla Leite (FRA) 2022: Claudia Contell (ESP) 2019: Sara Madera (ITA) 2018: Iris Mbulito (ESP) 2017: Maria Araujo (ESP)
Roll of honor
France's fourth gold medal solidified their spot in the top three and ended Spain's reign of dominance by preventing them from what could have been a ninth U20 crown in 12 years. It was still a place on the podium for Spain as they increased their medal count to 13 with a third-placed finish last summer.
