    The FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket 2024, Division B, is set to unfold in Sofia, Bulgaria.

    SOFIA (Bulgaria) – The FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket 2024, Division B, is set to unfold in Sofia, Bulgaria.

    This tournament is a crucial stepping stone for all teams as they strive to secure a spot in the prestigious showpiece of the following year.

    The action will take place from July 6-14.

    Who is participating?

    There will be 15 teams, all aiming for glory and a spot in next summer's FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket, and they are as follows:

    Group A: Ireland, Czechia, Switzerland, Slovakia Group B: Iceland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Austria Group C: Greece, Belgium, Croatia, Albania Group D: Romania, Netherlands, Great Britain

    What is the schedule?

    The Group Phase will occur across the opening three days of the tournament before a rest day on July 9. From there, the Classification Games will occur based on their group positions, with the Final tipping off on July 14.

    As Portugal cannot be relegated from Division A as they will host the 2025 edition, if they finish between 14th-16th, then only two teams will earn promotion from Division B.

    Who were the winners in 2023?

    Slovenia held Germany to just a single field goal in the final quarter to secure a 57-47 win in last year's Division B Final. Anja Dragar had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks for the victors as the Slovenians out-scored their German counterparts 17-2 in the fourth to add their title to the won they won in 2016.

    Former MVPs

    Frieda Buhner was at the heart of everything for Germany, but unfortunately, she came up short in the Final. However, her efforts did not go unnoticed, as she picked up MVP honors last summer, amassing 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game.

    Roll of honor

    Slovenia joined Germany and Sweden as the only nations to have lifted the Division B crown more than once. Greece and Czechia have each won the complete gold, silver and bronze set to maintain their place at the top of the medal haul.
