GDYNIA (Poland) - Zacharie Perrin took his place in his country's basketball history after being named Most Valuable Player at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2024 after leading France to the title in Gdynia.
Perrin also headlined the All-Star Five of the tournament, which also includes Noah Penda and Zacharie Perrin of France, Vangelis Zougris of Greece and Belgium's Nathan Missia-Dio.
MVP: Zacharie Perrin - France
Perrin was masterful all tournament for the champions and the big man showed he can step it up in big games too with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in the Final. Perrin led France in scoring with 15.4 points per game to go with 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks. The forward did not have an efficiency below 17 in the Knockout Phase.
Noah Penda - France
Penda was a strong contender for the MVP trophy as well as he was a major force for Guillaume Vizade's team. The small forward collected 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists in the Final and averaged 11.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals for the tournament. Penda also saved France in the Quarter-Finals with a long three-pointer at the buzzer to win the game against Spain.
Urban Klavzar - Slovenia
Klavzar nearly entered the annuls of Slovenian basketball history as he seemed destined to win MVP if Slovenia had won the game - and climbed atop Europe at the U20 age group for the first time in 20 years. The guard did all he could in the Final with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. For the tournament, Klavzar averaged 16.1 points while shooting 38.3 percent on three-pointers, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals.
Vangelis Zougris - Greece
Greece captured their second straight bronze medal at the U20 EuroBasket thanks in large part to Zougris, who averaged 11.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks. Zougris, whose only subpar game was the Semi-Finals against France, collected 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals in Greece's win over Belgium in the Third Place Game.
Nathan Missia-Dio - Belgium
Belgium came up just short of their first U20 EuroBasket medal in taking fourth place, but Missia-Dio definitely deserved a spot on the All-Star Five with his performance. He averaged 15.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks. The power forward scored the most points in a single game, pouring in 35 points against Iceland to go with 16 rebounds in the Round of 16.
FIBA
