LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Swiss basketball star Clint Capela is officially on board as the Ambassador for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025, which is set to take place in his home country, Switzerland, in the beautiful city of Lausanne.
This is an event you don’t want to miss if you want to see the future stars of the NBA. I’m counting on you to be there!
Born in Geneva, Capela made history when he was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2014, becoming just the second Swiss player ever to make it to the NBA. Today, he's a key player for the Atlanta Hawks, but his journey started long before that - representing Switzerland in multiple FIBA competitions.
Over the years, Capela has proudly worn the national team jersey, putting up impressive numbers like:
14.7 points and 11 rebounds per game during the FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers
An average of 12.9 points and 8.7 rebounds across his senior national team appearances
And before that, he made his mark in youth competitions too:
15.7 points and 15.7 rebounds per game at the U18 European Championship Division B in 2011
20.4 points and 16.1 rebounds per game at the U16 European Championship Division B in 2010
12.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game at the U16 European Championship Division B in 2009
Capela also stays connected to his roots by giving back through his Capela Camp in Geneva, helping young players develop their game and chase their basketball dreams.
With Capela leading the way as Ambassador, the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 should rise to an even higher level. Get ready to see the next generation of stars take the stage!
