Final
France led by 18 early in the fourth quarter but had to fight off a late challenge to secure an 80-70 victory after a 12-3 Spain run to start the quarter allowed them to chip back into the game.
Through the will of Iyanna Martin Carrion, who had 13 fourth quarter points, Spain pulled it back to within four.
But France's MVP Nell Angloma drived baseline and delivered a dime to Sarah Cisse for an and-one to gain some momentum back.
Tea Cleante then hit a big three for France with 90 seconds remaining before Angloma put the game out of reach, beating the shot clock to extend the lead back to nine with only 54 seconds on the clock.
Third Place Game
Serbia completed an unlikely turnaround in the knockout stages to go from 0-3 in the Group Phase to finish third, after defeating Israel 72-56.
Israel had led more often in the first half, and the scores were level at the break, but in the second half Serbia outscored their opponents 44-28. A damning 12-0 Serbia run in the fourth quarter was part of this, including consecutive threes from Jovana Popovic and Minja Arandelovic.
Top Performers
Jovana Popovic ensured Serbia secured a third place finish with her all-around performance of 28 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists on an efficiency rating of 40 to top off a strong tournament for Popovic and her nation.
Italy's Emanuela Trozzola saved her best performance until last, dropping 27 points, 5 assists and 2 steals for an impressive 31 efficiency rating to win the Classification 9-10 game over Latvia. Joyce Isi Etute dropped the biggest double-double we have seen this tournament, with 26 points and 20 rebounds plus 3 steals for an efficiency rating of 30 but the performance couldn't prevent Luxembourg from finishing last.
Pauline Bayart also had herself a dominant double-double display with 22 points and 13 rebounds plus 2 blocks for an efficiency rating of 28 as Belgium secured eighth. Despite giving away a late turnover, Lena Bilic left it all out there in her final game also dropping a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds with 5 assists, rated 27 for efficiency rating, as Croatia couldn't avoid the drop to Division B.
