France celebrate third FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket title triumph

    France were crowned champions of Europe in Portugal

    The two previous titles for France came in 2012 and 2016.

    MATOSINHOS (Portugal) - France completed a perfect tournament to claim the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket title for a third time with victory over Spain in Sunday's Final.

    The French led by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter, but had to fend off a late challenge by their opponents to secure an 80-70 victory after Spain managed to get within four points.

    Sarah Cisse led the winners in scoring with 22 points and 6 rebounds in the title-decider, while Nell Angloma and Tea Cleante chipped in with 16 points apiece. In the meantime, Iyana Martin Carrion had a game-high 24 points for Spain.

    After leading her team to the top in Matosinhos, Angloma was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, with the All-Star Five completed by Awa Fam of Spain, Serbia's Jovana Popovic, Gal Raviv from Israel and Clara Silva of Portugal.

    Serbia had earlier taken the final spot on the podium with a 72-56 victory over Israel in the Third Place Game with Jovana Popovic starring with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

    Meanwhile, Portugal secured their spot at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2025 as they defeated Hungary 69-63 to finish in fifth place - joining the top four sides at next year's global event.

    Division B winners Montenegro earned promotion alongside beaten finalists Czechia, and third-placed Greece, while Croatia, Germany and Luxembourg were relegated from Division A after they finished in the bottom three.
