Colombia will host the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup
MIAMI (United States) - The FIBA Regional Office in the Americas confirmed that the Alejandro Galvis Ramírez Bicentennial Coliseum in Bucaramanga, Colombia, will host the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup.
MIAMI (United States) - The FIBA Regional Office in the Americas confirmed that the Alejandro Galvis Ramírez Bicentennial Coliseum in Bucaramanga, Colombia, will host the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup from June 17 to 23.
Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the host, Colombia, will compete for the title after achieving their respective qualifications in the FIBA Women’s South American and FIBA Women’s Centrobasket U17 Championships. Canada and the United States will represent the north of the region.
The top four FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup teams will secure their tickets to the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in 2025.
The United States has won ten U18 titles in a row. In 2022, Kira "Kiki" Rice was selected Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Rice, is now a star for UCLA and reached the "Sweet 16" round in the NCAA Tournament in 2024. Some notable previous U18 AmeriCup players include Candace Parker, Skyla Diggins-Smith, Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, among others.
