    TAMPERE (Finland) - The opening day of the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2024 saw hosts Finland and the defending champions Serbia get off to a good start with important wins over Lithuania and Italy.

    Ben Saraf posted the highest efficiency rating of the opening day with 31 as Israel's young star shone with 31 points, 8 assists and 2 blocks in a victory over Latvia.

    Sweden defeated Denmark powered by Julius Price and his 30-point showcase. The guard added 7 assists and 1 steal to secure himself a spot in the Top Performers lineup.

    Slovenia's Urban Kroflic recorded a near triple-double of 15 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists as his team defeated Spain in Group D.

    Even though Spain fell short in that very game, Mario Saint-Supery did manage to post a triple-double of his own with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals which amounted to an efficiency of 27.

    Corentin Efono was the unsolvable riddle for Croatian defenders as he came up with 18 points paired up with 9 rebounds and 5 assists in Belgium's opening day success.
