AMMAN (Jordan) - Australia and New Zealand are set to write another chapter in their long-storied rivalry as the two are set to battle it out in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 Final on Monday night at the Prince Hamza Hall in the Jordanian capital.
The Emus and the Junior Tall Blacks forged the championship showdown after dispatching their respective opponents in the Semi-Finals on Sunday night.
New Zealand were the first to book their ticket to the final stage following an 86-71 victory over China. Australia then followed suit after a 94-42 rout of the hosts.
Aside from it being a battle of two unbeaten teams as both are 4-0 in the tournament, the upcoming clash will be a rematch of the 2018 Final in Thailand.
Australia won, 72-62, and will look to replicate as much to get their second title in the biennial continental competitions in as many appearances.
Set to play in the Third-Place Game, meanwhile, are China and Jordan, with China hoping to bring home the bronze again after doing so in 2022.
But the young Falcons are motivated as well to earn a place in the podium, as the program is looking to end a 28-year medal drought in the tournament.
