    Countdown to FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 continues as draw date confirmed

    MIES (Switzerland) - Excitement is building for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 in Mexico after it was revealed the draw for the prestigious event will take place on Thursday, April 11.

    MIES (Switzerland) - Excitement is building for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 in Mexico after it was revealed the draw for the prestigious event will take place on Thursday, April 11.

    All 16 participating nations will join fans in fixing their eyes on the draw in Leon, which will get underway at 11.00 (local) and 19.00 (CET).

    Local favorites Mexico are joined by fellow Americas countries, Argentina, Canada and rookies Puerto Rico. There's also current holders USA, who are chasing their fifth title at what will be the sixth edition of the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup.

    European teams will be looking for their usual strong showing will be represented by France, Spain and Italy, as well as newcomers to the tournament, Croatia and Finland.

    Chinese Taipei will debut at the event, alongside fellow nations that qualified from the U16 Women's Asia Cup 2023, Japan, New Zealand and 2016 winners, Australia who remain the only country to have landed gold other than USA.

    Finally, African basketball will be proudly represented by Egypt and Mali who have both impressed at FIBA youth events in recent years.

    The draw will be available for fans to follow via the livestreame on FIBA's YouTube channel.
