Croatia small-forward Nika Gazic came out the blocks hot with a 27-point, 12-rebound double-double, with 2 blocks, although the performance wasn't enough for Croatia to overcome Italy in the opening day of action. Her efficiency rating of 28 was top for the day though.
The standout for Italy was Sofia Zuccon who dropped her own double-double of 12 points, 14 rebounds and 2 steals for an efficiency rating of 25, on the winning Italian side.
