Slovenia hold off Georgia to stay unbeaten; Chatzilamprou red-hot for Greece

    HERAKLION (Greece) - Six teams remained unbeaten after Day 2 of the 2024 FIBA U16 EuroBasket, which also saw title holders Spain write up another big success, this time over Latvia.

    Key Storylines

    • Lithuania, Greece, France, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain all improve to 2-0;

    • Chatzilamprou sank eight threes for 33 points in success over Croatia;

    • Slovenia survive late scare against Georgia, while Israel beat Italy.

    Top Performers

    As Greece defeated Croatia 77-63 to improve to two wins from two, Chrysostomos Chatzilamprou showed a red-hot hand from beyond the arc. The sharpshooter scored 33 points on eight three pointers, also added 12 rebounds for an efficiency of 30.

    Israel's Aviv Aronov led the way for his team's first win of the event, 73-65 over Italy. Aronov put up 28 points with 5 threes, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.

    Erkin Kas is the second Türkiye's representative in the Top Performers lineup in two days. In an 84-60 victory over Finland, he provided a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, also added 2 steals.

    Lithuania remained unbeaten after defeating Germany 73-54 as Emilis Zibuda sank five threes on his way to a 30-point, 8-rebound performance for the winning side.

    Title holders Spain got another big 89-59 win over Latvia and had a number of in-form names, but Saba Merebashvili was first among them with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
