TIRANA (Albania) - Yll Kastrati will have an extra award when he heads back home after being named the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2024, Division C for helping Kosovo to the title.
Kastrati also headlines the All-Star Five which includes teammate Lis Binishi, Genti Nilo from Albania, Rafayel Masumyan of Armenia and Alexei Svetenco of Moldova.
MVP: Yll Kastrati - Kosovo
Kastrati collected 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the Final - a 101-61 win over Albania - and finished the tournament averaging 18.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.6 steals. He was the leading force for the champions all tournament.
Lis Binishi - Kosovo
Binishi, who was named to the All-Star Five at last summer's U16 Division C event, had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the title bout and produced 13.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, a tournament-high 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals for the tournament.
Genti Nilo - Albania
Nilo helped Albania get to the Final and shined all tournament with 18.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game. But his 13 points and 4 rebounds were not enough to help his team against Kosovo in the title bout.
Rafayel Masumyan - Armenia
Masumyan totalled 15.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.0 blocks for the tournament and helped Armenia grab third place.
Alexei Svetenco - Republic of Moldova
Svetenco led the tournament with 19.6 points and 13.0 rebounds to go with 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals. But Moldova only managed two victories - beating Malta and Gibraltar - to take seventh place.
