MIES (Switzerland) - The groups are now finalized for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers Second Round, after the draw took place at the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, on Friday.
The 12 participating nations were split into four groups of three teams, having been seeded based on the latest update of the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by NIKE.
FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani was in attendance and assisted in drawing the teams, who discovered their opponents for the next phase on the road to the 2027 World Cup in Qatar.
The groups are as follows:
Group A: Ukraine, Slovakia, Switzerland Group B: Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania Group C: Bulgaria, Netherlands, Austria Group D: Croatia, Denmark, Norway
Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Slovakia and Ukraine enter the competition after missing out on qualifying for FIBA EuroBasket 2025, while Austria, Norway, Romania and Switzerland had all advanced from the First Round of the Pre-Qualifiers.
Second Round action will commence in August 2025 and played in a round-robin format across three weeks.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, which get underway later this year.
