BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The first gamedays of the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers are through and there was a lot of action as expected. The stars of each team made sure to step up and shine as four more teams clinched Asia Cup qualification spots.
Here are the top performers from Gameday 5 (and don't forget to vote for your favorite down below):
Mohammad Amini (IRI) - 41 EFF
33 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 14-15 FG shooting, 5-5 3P shooting
Mohammad Amini came close to having a perfect game in a massive win for Iran over India, missing only one attempt. Not only that, he also recorded 14 made field-goals - the most recorded so far in this Asia Cup Qualifiers.
He wasn't just taking easy shots either.
Justin Brownlee (PHI) - 40 EFF
39 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 8 3P made
It was a herculean effort by Brownlee in one of the best games so far of the window against Chinese Taipei. He closed in on the Asia Cup Qualifiers* scoring record, coming just 5 points short of Sani Sakakini's 44 points score in 2020.
Unfortunately, it was not enough for the Philippines to avoid the upset (which was a big win for Chinese Taipei, but not a surprise).
Jordan Ngatai (NZL) - 29 EFF
20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 6 3P made
New Zealand had no problem taking care of Hong Kong, China and Ngatai breezed through to an efficient, all-around game. Everyone got on the scoreboard for New Zealand with Ngatai leading the way.
His 6 three-pointers made are the most by a Tall Black ever in the Asia Cup Qualifiers*
Ihab Al-Zuhairi (IRQ) - 29 EFF
13 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 5-6 FG shooting
This was certainly a big game for Al-Zuhairi individually, but he'll probably be more focused on celebrating the crucial win for his team. Iraq battled back from a double-digit deficit and exploded for 21 unanswered points to clinched third-place in their group.
Devon Chism (BRN) - 29 EFF
21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks
Chism and Bahrain came close to pulling off the upset, but it just wasn't meant to be.
The veteran big man extends his double-double streak in the Asia Cup Qualifiers to 5 - now leading all players in the competition.
