HARARE (Zimbabwe) - The final day of the Road to BAL Group E Division will see four teams compete for a final available spot in one of the legs of the Elite 16.
FIBA.Basketball gives insights into the final round of Sunday’s matches at the City Sports Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Costa do Sol vs Bravehearts
After losing starts Group E both teams enter the final day of competition with 2-2 records.
Costa do Sol struggled with their team chemistry in their first two games against Matero and Fox Basketball Club, which ended in defeat.
Costa’s ball movement could pose a problem for Bravehearts. Players like Nilton Seifane, Danilo Cumbe and Ayad Munguambe can rise to the occasion for Costa do Sol.
Bravehearts are riding on a wave of confidence after unexpected wins against Botswana Defence Force and Fox Basketball. With only eight players available, the Malawian club have exceeded expectations by giving themselves a shot at an Elite 16 spot.
Coach Griffin Kalua will again look to Zambian big man, Harrison Banda, Ian Limbe and Faad Billy to spark the offense of the Bravehearts.
Matero Magic vs Botswana Defence Force
Matero Magic head into this fixture with a 4-0 record and a ticket to the Elite 16, so the job is done.
But this new Matero team does not appear as if they will rest on their laurels. They will want to finish on a high.
Botswana Defence Force (BDF) showed great potential and has been competitive throughout their four games.
Sadly, it has not been enough to get them over the hill with a 0-4 mark. They will play for pride in their final game.
Basket Hounds vs Fox
After a great start (winning two games), the home club has found it tough and losses to Costa do Sol and Matero Magic will not bode well for their confidence.
And it will get any easier against a wounded Fox. If Basket Hounds have any hope the likes of Innocent Zhomwa and Kamani Morris have to get going.
Fox will be extremely disappointed with their shock defeat to Bravehearts, in the same vein the South Sudan club have to shake off the disappointment and focus on their final game against the Hounds.
Fox still has a shot at the Elite 16 and the likes of Makuei Puondak, Adub Aluk and Gabriel GOB have to step up for their club to secure the remaining spot in the next phase.
