    Game-day 1 of the Elite 16, East Division at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi saw jaw-dropping performances.

    NAIROBI (Kenya) - One day down, four to go! The Elite 16, East Division kicked off on Thursday at the Nyayo Gymnasium in the Kenyan capital, where fans witnessed some of the continent's best players in action.

    Before the eight teams resume their qualifying campaigns on Friday, here is a round-up of the numbers that marked Match Day 1.

    Cape Verdean champions Kriol Star made it rain in their 89-58 win over Bravehearts, hitting 13 three-pointers, the most by any team on the opening day of the Elite 16, East Division.

    Only two players recorded double-double performances on Thursday. Kriol Star's Kenneti Mendes finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds while MBB's Marcus Mokwena contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds for the South African champions.

    Fox Basketball's Mayong Garang crashed the boards on the opening day of the Elite 16, East Division, finishing with 13 rebounds, the most by any player.

    Sloppy plays and ball mishandling can be costly, and turning the ball over 23 times - the most by any other team that took to the floor on Thursday - turned out costly for Zambia champions Matero Magic.
