MIES - FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committe (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann on Wednesday headed a delegation of basketball's world governing body that met with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin at the Union of European Football Associations' headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The meeting - held as a result of an invitation to meet at UEFA extended by Mr Čeferin to Mr Baumann during the Final of FIBA EuroBasket 2017 in Turkey - served to address a wide range of topics and highlight the importance of sport’s social value in today's society. It provided a platform for the two organizations to exchange ideas on how to develop and grow sport in Europe.

The current challenges that sport faces in Europe these days were discussed, in particular the importance of finding the right balance between club and national team competitions to serve the best interests of sport.
