Meet the FIBA WASL Gulf teams: Kazma
BEIRUT (Lebanon) - Going deeper into the season will surely be the goal of Kazma in the upcoming season of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL).
BEIRUT (Lebanon) - Kazma surely do not want to repeat the same mistake twice as they gain another shot at glory in Season 2 of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL).
Redemption will be the Kuwaiti side's battlecry in the upcoming tilt, motivated by that crushing end to their campaign in the inaugurals that saw them blow the chance of sweeping their way into the Gulf League Semi-Finals as they bowed to Manama, who eventually went all the way the Finals.
History
Known for their football team, Kazma Sporting Club were founded in 1964. But it didn't take long for their basketball team to find success as they have gone on to win numerous Kuwaiti league championships. They have also made the Finals in the last three seasons.
Aside from domestic success, Kazma also proven their worth in the continental stage as well, having won a pair of bronze medals in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
Emblem
Homecourt
Kazma play their home games at the Shaikh Saad Alabdullah Sport Hall Complex in Kuwait City, and it will once again serve as hosts to their FIBA WASL assignments this season.
Path to FIBA WASL
The team punched a ticket back to FIBA's latest pan-regional competition following a runner-up finish to Kuwait Club in the 2022-23 Kuwaiti Division 1 Basketball League.
Players to watch
Kazma continued their practice of acquiring a solid big man to bolster their FIBA WASL campaign. After having Salah Mejri and Latavious Williams last season, they now have the sweet-shooting Clint Chapman, who was formerly the frontcourt partner of Mo Alsuwailem in Al Hilal.
Standing at 2.08 M (6'10"), Chapman averaged 19.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks for the Saudi Arabian team, who finished fourth in the Gulf League inaugurals.
He will be reinforcing the team alongside Travis Leslie, a combo guard out of the Georgia Bulldogs program who won MVP honors in the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Game.
Usual providers such as Yousiff Borhamah, Abdulaziz Alhamidi, and Ahmad Albaloushi, to name some, are coming back to lead the team.
