    FIBA statement on Korea and Chinese Taipei participation to the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 Syria

    FIBA was informed by the National Federations of Korea and Chinese Taipei of its decision not to travel to Syria to participate in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023.

    FIBA was informed by the National Federations of Korea and Chinese Taipei of its decision not to travel to Syria to participate in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 scheduled to start on Saturday, August 12.

    FIBA will investigate and assess the matter to determine any potential disciplinary measures.

    As a result, the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 Syria will be played with six teams, Bahrain, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and hosts Syria.

    The teams will play against each other in a single round-robin format. The best team of the group will qualify for the Olympics Qualifying Tournaments.
