    Australia outline players ready for mission in Guam

    MELBOURNE (FIBA Oceania U17 Women's Championship 2017) - Australia have unveiled their roster as they bid to land the FIBA Oceania U17 Women's Championship title in Guam during July.

    MELBOURNE (FIBA Oceania U17 Women's Championship 2017) - Australia have unveiled their roster as they bid to land the FIBA Oceania U17 Women's Championship title in Guam during July.

    The tournament is the first hurdle for Australia before they move through to the FIBA Asia U18 Women's Championship 2018, where qualification for the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2019 will be at stake.

    The roster includes a trio of players who delivered a maiden success at the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship 2016, when the Sapphires were crowned world champions for the first time.

    Samantha Simons, Jazmin Shelley and Miela Goodchild are all included in the team that will be led by experienced Adelaide 36ers assistant coach Tracy York, who was part of the staff that helped deliver the famous title in Zaragoza last year.

    The play-caller will be assisted by Townsville Fire WNBL head coach Claudia Brassard and 2016-17 University of Canberra Capitals assistant coach Reece Potter.​

    Australia will hold a mini-camp in Guam prior to the competition starting in Hagatna. The favorites will compete against Tahiti, Marshall Islands and Samoa during the initial phase, with the tournament being held between July 9-17.
