    Venezuela’s young star Garly Sojo passes away

    MIAMI (United States) - The Venezuelan Basketball Federation confirms that Garly Sojo, passed away in the early hours of December 22 in his home in Caracas, Venezuela, he was 24 years old.

    MIAMI (United States) - The Venezuelan Basketball Federation confirms that Garly Sojo, passed away in the early hours of December 22 in his home in Caracas, Venezuela, he was 24 years old.

    Sojo, a promising small forward, debuted with the Venezuelan national team in 2020, in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament that was played in Kaunas, Lithuania. In 2023 he participated in the FIBA World Cup, which was held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, and averaged 12.4 points.

    "We deeply regret the death of Garly Sojo, a member of our national team and an extraordinary human being with a promising start in his basketball career. We send our condolences to his family, friends, relatives and the entire sports community for this sensitive and irreparable loss," the Venezuelan Basketball Federation said in a statement.

    Recently, Sojo played with the Gladiadores de Anzoátegui team in the first group stage of the Basketball Champions League Americas.
