BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia continued its efforts in improving game officiating after organizing a referees workshop in Chinese Taipei.

Made possible in cooperation with the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA), 28 male and female participants attended the sessions held last July 3-5.

The program included several subjects from both a theoretical and practical perspective, including the latest updates related to refereeing and basketball rules.

Aside from game management and communication techniques, video analysis and review of game situations are also given importance, along with physical fitness.

CTBA Secretary General Lee Yun-hsiang believes that such workshops will only help in developing their local referees to become more competent globally.

"The Chinese Taipei Basketball Association has been dedicated to training young referees and strives to align with international standards," he said.

"With the guidance and support of the FIBA Regional Office-Asia in this workshop, we believe that our association's young and potential referees will benefit greatly," Lee furthered. "They will be more confident and better prepared."

More referees workshops will be held in several countries soon as part of the FIBA Regional Office-Asia's commitment to further improve game officiating in the region.
