Mongolia and Spain handle business on Day 2 of FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament

THE TEAMS
Mongolia (Men)
Mongolia got off to a strong start to their tournament on Day 2, picking up a 21 - 14 victory against Poland in the opener. A gritty game for the most part, Delgernyam Davaasambuu kept his side’s offense ticking in the paint. He put up 10 points while star player Anand Ariunbold added 7.
A huge game against Belgium was next, who are known for being a defensively sound side. Davaasambuu put up 7, yet another big offensive showing, but it was the Archer who took the plaudits for an 8-point display, calling game with a huge two.

They now hold a comfortable advantage heading into their final group game against Japan tomorrow.
Spain (Women)
The Spaniards were a team on a mission on Day 2. They started off with a clinical 21 - 7 win against Mongolia in what was a superb collective effort. The duo of Sandra Ygueravide and Juana Camilion combined for 13 points in the result.
It was Japan next who were looking strong heading into this game, yet they were no match to Spain who won comfortably 21 - 12. Vega Gimeno put up a huge 10 points while Gracia Alonso added 7.

Momentum is on their side heading into their final game in the Pool phase against Egypt tomorrow.
THE PLAYERS
Anand Ariunbold (MGL)
The Archer was all business on Day 2 as he showcased his offensive prowess yet again to lead Mongolia to a perfect 2-0 start.
A combined 15 points over two games including huge buckets down the stretch highlights just how dangerous the Mongolians can be.
Marissa Lee Kastanek (POL)
Kastanek was a one - woman show for Poland. She started off with a monstrous 15-point game in a winning effort against Ukraine, causing trouble from inside the arc and beyond.

She added in another 10 points to her personal tally in yet another victory against Tunisia, going perfect in scoring from 6 shots.
Her offensive prowess will be key to Poland’s quest for an Olympic spot.
