MFM are champions of the 2023 Nigerian Zenith Bank Women Basketball League
LAGOS - MFM have become the fifth club to have won the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League in the history of the competition which began in 2005.
LAGOS (Nigeria) - Mountain of Fire and Miracle (MFM) has emerged as the 2023 Nigeria Women League champions thanks to a 64-60 victory over Customs Basketball Club of Abuja at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
MFM thus become the fifth club to have won the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League in the history of the competition which began in 2005.

The new champions, coached by former Dolphins basketball club play caller Ochuko Okworogu, won the first two quarters of the match-up (15-12; 17-14) for a 6-point advantage (32-26) going into the halftime break.
Customs, however, charged back in the second half to tie the game at the end of the fourth period (58-58), forcing an overtime.
However, MFM proved the better side in a low scoring five minutes extra period (6-2) for their first top podium finish.
The MFM tactician who won the league title with Dolphins basketball club of Lagos in 2015 was full of praises for her players for the victory.
"I am particularly impressed with the response from the players as the game went into overtime," Okworogu said.
"Our next call will be the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women Zone 3 qualifiers and we will be in that competition with same spirit and do our management and nation proud," concluded the former D'Tigress assistant coach.
Second placed Air Warriors basketball club of Abuja had the better of Bayelsa Blue Whales by 50-42 to join MFM in the Zone 3 qualifiers of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women.
