Guapo and Miezis top unfrozen FIBA 3x3 Individual rankings
MIES (Switzerland) - One year later, all FIBA 3x3 rankings have finally been unfrozen.
MIES (Switzerland) - All FIBA 3x3 rankings – which had been frozen since April 1, 2020 to avoid disrupting Olympic eligibility and qualification to competitions - are now dynamic again with France's Laetitia Guapo and Latvia's Nauris Miezis as number 1 players in the World in the women and men's categories respectively.
The 25-year-old Guapo has now been ranked first for 19 months in a row. She was key in Les Bleues' effort to win the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series and the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in 2019. Her teammates Migna Touré (the Women's Series 2019 MVP) and Ana Maria Filip (the Europe Cup 2019 MVP) are next in the rankings.
In the men's category, Miezis replaces Dusan Bulut as the new number one. The FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2020 MVP (with Team Riga) starts his second reign on the rankings after a brief 3-month stint from October 21, 2019 to January 15, 2020. Bulut is still around the corner at 2 while Liman (SRB) star Stefan Kojic comes next at 3.
It was a good day in the office for Riga, who also climbed to first place in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking, ahead of Liman (SRB) and Ub (SRB).
Though the rankings have been unfrozen, a transitional period was put in place from April 1 to September 30, 2021.
During this time, all players will:
