Game officials workshop a success in Maldives
MALE (Maldives) - A game officials clinic was organized by the FIBA Regional Office - Asia from March 18-19 in Male, Maldives.
MALE (Maldives) - A game officials clinic was organized by the FIBA Regional Office - Asia from March 17-18 in Male, Maldives.
14 participants took part in the two-day programme which included several subjects from both a theoretical and practical perspective including; latest updates related to refereeing and basketball rules.
This was also a good opportunity for the Regional Office to scout and identify potential FIBA and National referees in Maldives.
“It’s a privilege to have such a workshop taking place in Maldives. These kind of workshops and clinics will help our referees grow and perform better in the future, said Maldives Basketball Association President, Mr. Ahmed Adam.
An on-court practical sessions were also organized to help the participants understand the task at hand to help them become FIBA licensed referees and understand how to tackle challenges.
“I would like to thank the Regional Office for conducting the workshop for the Referees in Maldives. It was a chance to update ourselves with the rules and refresh some procedures and officiating mechanics we must use in the game. It was a great learning opportunity. I would also like to thank Maldives Basketball Association (MBA) for giving us this opportunity. I hope to get more opportunities to participate in workshops and clinics in the future, said one of the participants and FIBA referee Bunyamin Yoosuf
The game officials clinic in Maldives is the second so far this year, as the Regional Office prepares its game officials for a busy year of basketball in Asia.
