LUXEMBOURG (Luxembourg) - The highly important priority of Empowering National Federations with the help of the FIBA PLUS Performance Program has taken center stage at the Basketball Federation of Luxembourg.
The FIBA PLUS Performance Program helps federations put in place strategies to improve their capacity to organize, professionalize and commercialize basketball activities, and thus ensure the successful development of the game in countries.
FIBA has developed a tailor-made program for Luxembourg Basketball with FIBA staff, following discussions with the federation and its external stakeholders, visiting Luxembourg and sharing information through a workshop.
At the workshop, the Basketball Federation of Luxembourg defined its vision, mission statements and values, before specifying goals and developing SMART objectives. The detailed action plan for the coming months and years is being finalized, with the implementation to start by the end of the year.
Now, the federation's future focus is clearly defined and performance baselines and benchmarks have been established so Luxembourg Basketball can measure its growth and progress.

FIBA will continually re-evaluate Luxembourg Basketball's strategy to ensure it remains aligned with its needs. The final step will be an assessment conducted at the end of the process, to determine if the goals have been reached.
President of the Federation of Luxembourg, Samy Picard, said: "We are very grateful that FIBA has chosen the Luxembourg Basketball Federation for their FIBA PLUS Performance program. We are currently experiencing a generational shift in our federation which presents a great opportunity to work on a new strategy for the coming years. The workshop was intense but very productive and we had many great exchanges. We are very optimistic that this process will take the Luxembourgish basketball community to the next level."
FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak added: "We are very happy to support our National Federation members and the FIBA PLUS Performance Program greatly compliments FIBA's strategic priority to Empower National Federations. Luxembourg Basketball will be able to take basketball one step further by implementing this tailor-made program, and I am eager to see what developments they will make in the near future."
